It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Viola Bowers.
Viola was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. In 1952 she married her soul mate, Jack. They raised four children, Susan, Steve, Nancy and Jan. Viola had 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Theirs was a happy home, with much support for their children. Both she and Jack were warm loving parents, with a wonderful sense of humor, and a gift of hospitality.
During the early years of raising the family, many camping vacations were spent in the Osoyoos & Banff areas, but later, vacations were spent in far off places such as Hawaii, Europe and California, to name a few. They were members of Gyro International for over 50 years.
Viola was gifted in many areas: cooking, baking, interior design, gardening and having the touch for embroidery, knitting and sewing. Jack and Vi purchased a Hallmark shop in the Duncan Mall that would be named Vi’s Card Closet.
Viola was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Betty, husband Jack, brothers William and Jack, Sister Marnie and great grandson Jameson. She is survived by her sister Bobbee.
A Celebration of life will be held on September 16, 2022, 2pm at First Memorial Royal Oak. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer’s/Dementia Society of your choice.
