As a young women Patricia worked in the grocery department at Eaton’s Store in Saskatoon. She later moved to Victoria with her parents, in search of milder winters. Her first job in Victoria was at the Hudson Bay Co.
It was at a Hudson Bay staff party that she met her future husband - George. Patricia and George dated for five years and were married November 1, 1955. The couple settled at George’s recently acquired home on Richmond Rd in Victoria BC. Two years later they started their family.
Patricia had twin daughters (Margaret, Kathleen) on June 1, 1958 and a son (Bill) on March 26, 1960. She was a full-time mother.
Patricia returned to work, at Sears, when the girls were ten years of age. Patricia worked at Sears for 10 years and enjoyed helping customers. She retired, early, at the age of 53 due to an underlying heath condition - scleroderma. After four years, the condition went into remission, and she enjoyed a quiet retirement.
Patricia and George were married for 61 years. After her husband passed, Patricia lived in the family home for an additional 2 years. After she broke her hip, she lived at the Tolmie and later Summit long-term Care Facilities.
Patricia is survived by her three children and four grandchildren. Pat and George were both only children, and the only other surviving relatives are second cousins in England, New Zealand and Australia.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life for Patricia at First Memorial, 4725 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC.
