My condolences to all the family. Your mom was an amazing woman. she exemplified the power of one. We came to know one another because we both did our nursing in Montreal, Louise at the RVH and myself at SMH. she single handedly in 2017 put our Montreal nursing tribute project on the map, on her very active blog with the  RVH alumnae nurses. the latter responded favorably and the Vic nurses generated thousands of dollars to our fund. We now have our site, the artist and photos of future art. She  was so smart, so fun, so reliable. if there are any RVH nurses I can pick up the thread with updates of project, please contact me. Louise and I discovered another connection, North Hatley and common  friends there, notably the Lebarons.  Catherine Mcininch  Murphy 514-849-1503.

I am so sorry that I just saw this notice today (September 23, 2022).  Louise was a distant cousin through the Flemings. She was a great friend to my mother (George-Ann) and always was so kind to me. I remember her wonderful singing voice and great story-telling talent.

LOUISE WAS A REMARKABLE LADY WHO DONATED HER TIME AND ABILITY TO GIVE US THE NEWSY AND MOST INTERESTING BLOG ,.SHE ALSO KEPT US UPDATED ON THE RVH HOSPITAL MOVING LOCATION AND THE NEW LOCATION.   So many interesting health articles and fund raisers for the cleaning of QUEEN VICTORIA STATUE AND OUR NURSES STATUE accrediting the field of nursing.

Your sadness is shared by the many RVH grads whose lives she touched weekly - unless, without Fred, there were "hitches" -  keeping us up to date on each others activities and the life of our beloved school and hospital. Thank you, Louise!

Louise and my mother, Margery (Campbell) Fisher attended the Royal Vic together. I grew up on tales of 'Wheezer' but it was only when my family began spending summers on Sidney Island that I met her. She more than lived up to the advance billing! I will miss our summer lunches with Wheezer in her regular pew at Beacon Landing chatting with the staff whose names she knew including their family members. Mostly, though, I will miss her indomitable spirit and zest for life.

Reading Louise's RVH nursing blog  has been very entertaining over so many years and played a very special role in connecting  our grads. She was a truly amazing and dedicated individual who contributed a great deal to all of us and will live on in our memories.

For numerous years Louise has been the conduit between graduates of the RVH and what is happening in our little (albeit big) world no matter where we lived.  Her RVH Nurses' Blog provided a relief from life's daily tasks what with welcomed jokes, RVH class reunion dates, places & photos as available, news from long-lost grads who had moved to other countries/continents, and so much more.  Louise did a superlative job of the Blog which was greatly appreciated.  
May she rest in peace but have a good time Up There.

What a privilege to have a mother, grandma, or great grandma who lived an active life for 97 years, with all her marbles! I knew Louise only be ause of the Blog she put together so well for the RVH grads. She wrote several lovely notes to me over the years and provided many smiles! You must be vey proud of her and will be missing her now.

I am missing Louise as my email friend,   whom I got to know when she developed the RVH Blog,  but we never met in person.  I often sent her musings and jokes which weren't necessarily for the Blog and which she thoroughly enjoyed.  She was a vibrant lady until the end, interested in people and events around her.   Her attitude and grace will be a role model for may who knew her.  She fondly wrote about her family whom she adored and will be missed by many.

I always loved visiting Louise when I came to Victoria. We had lots of laughs over a glass of wine and fish chowder. She never failed to mention her love for my great uncle Fred. She can restore any one’s faith in true love! It has been an honour getting to know Louise and I love her like an aunt. I’ll miss her jokes, her stories, and her wonderful positive outlook on life. I wish could find the words to adequately express how much Louise meant to me and fellow grads of The Royal Vic. Although many of us  never met her in person - we felt a very close connection.She made each of us feel special.A truly remarkable woman.

Louise, a woman that to me, was so inspirational, someone that loved unconditionally, judged no one, and treated everyone with the utmost kindness. Having known Louise for some 55 years, as a Mother in law, and mostly a great friend, who loved to refer me as her ex, she shared many stories, feelings, and of course a ton of jokes. Our girls night turned into weekends and everything shared, fills me with lasting memories. She was so loved and I always said I want to be just like her when I grew up! No tears being allowed became harder as time neared, but you just knew conversation would end if you broke.  My deepest condolences to Louise’s family. As an RVH grad I looked forward to her weekly blogs which she did so well. Thanks to Louise many friendships  were renewed and news stories about RVH grads and far and near easily shared. The behind the scene challenges  and skills required to keep the blog going were well appreciated, especially by those of us not technically inclined.

 She was a remarkable woman and an exemplary role model for other women. Louise also knew the secret of aging gracefully! Although we had never met, I will miss her.

Louise was an exceptional person. I met here a number of years ago when she came to St. John’s, in fact we had lunch along with Margot Reed, class of 1950. We talked and laughed and spent about two hours reminiscing about our times at the Vic. In spite of the differences in our ages, we had lots to talk about. Next week Margot  I are having lunch together and you can be sure that a lot of the talk will be about Louise.

Louise was an inspiration to me and to many RVH grads to welcome challenges in our lives!  I don’t think she knew much about blogging when she first started but she learned and she did it and my, what a wonderful job she did!!    

The blog has made all of the RVH grads one big family – Louise was the glue that kept us all together allowing us to share our hopes and dreams, joys and sorrows and for sure, memories of our time at the RVH and all the career paths that training has taken us.  You showed us, through your blog, what a remarkable group of women we are!

Louise and I always had such fun having the same first name – echoing over cyberspace.

Thank you, Louise, for the blog and your emails.  Even though we never met in person, I feel you were a dear friend.  May you rest in peace and I hope to meet you “on the other side”

You have probably heard from hundreds of Louise’s nurses, she kept us all in touch, not only with each other, but news in medicine and always with her wonderful sense of humour. She was an example to us all, how to age and enjoy it! I had several visits with her and we will miss her terribly. 

A life well lived! 

My condolences to Louise's family, she literally was the glue that kept the nurses of the Royal Victoria Hospital together.  It will be hard to follow in her steps.  She is sorely missed.  Such a sharp brain was Louise's.    Sandra Libby
