announce the sudden passing of Joy - wife,
mother, nana, sister and friend. Joy is survived
by her loving husband Mel who was her soul
mate and best friend; daughter Nancy Gray
(George) and grandson Jason; son Kevin Wells
(Karen), their children, Amanda, Cassandra,
and Ryan; brothers Brian and Peter
Saunders (Leslie) ; also, step-daughter
Lorraine and family, Christopher, Alisha, Kadie.
Predeceased by her parents Frank & Iris
Saunders.Joy was born in Bournemouth
England and in 1948 along with her family
immigrated to Canada on board the Queen
Mary, the family settled in Victoria to begin
their new life. A graduate of Victoria High
School, her secretarial career began at local
radio station CJVI, later to take 10 years away
from the working world in order to raise her
family. A new adventure then began with TD
Canada Trust until retirement. Joy spent many
years travelling with her husband across
Canada and the US in their motorhome. When
not travelling she spent much of her time
happily with her grandchildren whom she
adored. She was an avid gardener, knitter, and
had a passion for cooking - always trying out
new recipies. Joy was a loving and caring
person who touched the hearts of everyone
she knew there are no words to fill the void
that we have now, but the memories that we
have will last a lifetime.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday,
March 10th, 2017 at 2:00pm at First Memorial
Chapel, 4725 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC

may be made in Joy’s memory to Canadian
Cancer Society or Firefighters burn fund
