Born in Scotland July 1st, 1935, Ian came to Canada as a baby and lived his early years in Edmonton, AB. There he married his first wife Barbara (Jarron) and had three children, Terriann, Jim and Jack. As a young Dad, Ian was active in the community, coaching both boys’ softball and hockey for his sons’ teams and enjoyed many years of competitive curling. He had a successful career of 28 years with the Workers’ Compensation Board where he met his loving wife Nancy LeBlanc. Nancy and Ian were married on December 22, 1984 and enjoyed many years in Edmonton together, both very involved with running events and participating in many marathons including the Boston Marathon. Ian retired from the WCB in 1991 and moved with Nancy to beautiful Victoria.
A lover of music, Ian sang many years with the Greater Victoria Police Chorus, which brought him much joy. He was an avid golfer, and could often be seen at Cedar Hill or Ardmore Golf Course with various golf buddies over the years. He was also a nature lover from a very young age, and could name almost any bird found in Western Canada, hummingbirds being his favorite.
Ian and Nancy did much travelling together, and in their later years together spent their winters at their “Home away from Home” in Maui. A very special place for them.
Ian was a true gentleman, a loving husband, a wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather, a dear brother and uncle, a special friend and all around good guy.
He will be missed.
