Helen Connelly McCann (nee Kenneth) passed away in the early hours of December 4, 2024, at the age of 90. She was born on September 13, 1934 in Fullerton Street, Paisley, Scotland, the sixth of seven children of Elizabeth and James Kenneth. Predeceased by her husband, Tommy McCann and son, Paul. She is survived by her grandchildren Kaitlynn, Brody and Serena. Great grandchildren Ryka, Macklin, baby Landon, Hunter and Nova as well as younger brother John Kenneth (Anne) and numerous nieces and nephews in both Canada and Scotland.
Helen moved to Canada in December 1967 with Tommy and Paul to start a new life and quickly fell in love with Victoria and prospered, settling in a new build home in Colwood. Her house quickly becoming the ‘go to’ place for relatives from Scotland to stay, who she welcomed with open arms.
She also had many, great parties in the house, especially at Christmas and Hogmanay (New Year’s Eve) where she led the music with her lovely singing voice and guitar playing. Neil Diamond and Gordon Lightfoot tunes were favourites too, not to mention ‘Me and Bobby McGee’ -a party staple.
In later years she took up painting as a hobby and created some lovely works of art only stopping when her eyesight started to diminish.
Helen will be remembered for her beauty, glamour, sense of style, love of family, independent spirit and living life on her own terms right up until the end.
A memorial will be held at a date yet to be determined in the Spring.
