Born to Doreen and Richard Gore-Langton, Nikki was the youngest of three children, with two surviving brothers, Gerry and Guy.
Nikki spent most of her life in Sidney, where she raised her two daughters, Ashley and Kimberly, and enjoyed her visits with her three grandchildren, Eliot, Addison and Coast. In retirement, she discovered a passion for photography, travelling the world to capture stunning landscapes, intriguing people, and her favourite subjects, wildlife. Friends fondly remember travelling with her to the UK to trace her family roots, Africa, Thailand and Cambodia, where she joyfully spent her time switching between multiple cameras and enormous lenses to get the best shot. Her grandchildren also remember many hours in fields with their grandmother, trying to catch the right light. Her photography highlighted her patience and keen sense of paying attention to every detail, as she always sought to capture the perfect moment and the perfect shot. Also in retirement, she selflessly took care of her partner, Lynn, never leaving his side until he lost his fight with cancer..
Nikki was known for her hearty laugh and loyal friendship. Her voice, full of life, could be heard clear across the swimming pool, even underwater. Despite mobility issues in recent years, Nikki was a familiar sight in her neighbourhood, often found sitting on the bench in front of her building with two little dogs at her feet.
A celebration of Nikki's life will be held in the chapel at First Memorial Funeral Services, 4725 Falaise Dr., Victoria B.C., on Monday, June 24th at 10 am.
Nikki will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
