1951 – 2024
Vernon, British Columbia
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Rae Elizabeth Jensen on Monday, December 2, 2024. Rae touched the lives of so many with her kindness, generosity, and boundless energy. While her passing leaves a deep void in our hearts, she also leaves behind countless cherished memories with her family, friends, and community.
Growing up in St. Bruno, Québec, Rae graduated from McGill University in 1972 and dedicated her career to teaching physical education. She inspired students at Richelieu Valley Regional High School in McMasterville, QC, and later at Champlain Regional College in St. Lambert, QC. Rae's passion for teaching, combined with her commitment to her community, was a hallmark of her life. Whether as a volunteer or a trusted friend, Rae was always ready to lend a hand.
Rae and her loving husband, Brian Jensen, shared many wonderful years together, raising three daughters in St. Lambert, QC. Upon retirement, they moved to Vernon, BC, where they embraced the beauty of the outdoors and an active lifestyle.
Rae was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Isabel Moore, and her brother, David Moore. She is survived by her husband, Brian; her daughters, Jana (Sean Cassin), Kelly (Roger Sarrasin), and Catherine (Dave Viitakangas); her adored grandchildren: Rebecca, Erika, Olivia, Anikka, Norah, Simon, and Soren; and her sister Coleen (Mario Boivin) and Andrew (Sue Durfy) and their families.
A celebration of Rae’s life will be held on December 17, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the Vernon Golf and Country Club in Vernon, BC, where there will be an opportunity for friends and family to share stories and memories. An additional memorial gathering is planned for Spring-Summer 2025 in the Montreal area to honour Rae's connection to her roots and community.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Rae’s memory instead of flowers. https://www.heartandstroke.ca/
