On December 12, 2024, Paulette Simone (Routhier) Holomis, a woman whose energy could light up a room and whose heart could fill it, completed her courageous six-year battle with cancer and was joyfully reunited in heaven with her parents.
Known for her fierce work ethic, razor-sharp memory, and passion for running (both on trails and through life’s challenges), she was a woman who made every moment count. Whether cheering on her grandkids at soccer games or meticulously planning family gatherings, Paulette made sure her love was felt in the most thoughtful ways. Her calendar might have been packed, but she was always exactly where she needed to be: by the side of the people she loved most.
She leaves behind her husband of 43 years, Brent Holomis, who was her best friend and steadfast partner in every adventure. Together they raised two children who carry her values and humor, Jeff (Kristin) and Ashley (Greg). Paulette was the proud and doting grandmother of five—Oliver, Payton, Ellie, Max, and Leo—each of whom brought her immense joy and countless opportunities to spoil them with love.
She also leaves a legacy of laughter, love, and shared memories among her five siblings, four siblings-in-law, her beloved in-laws, and a sprawling family of nephews, nieces, and dear friends.
The family wants to thank her care team over the years who were persistent, compassionate and hopefully throughout her journey.
A celebration of Paulette’s life will be held at Vernon Alliance Church on December 19 at 2 p.m., with a gathering to follow at the Stellar Room at The Edge in the Rise Resort at 4 p.m. In keeping with Paulette’s generous spirit, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to the North Okanagan Hospice House, whose compassionate care gave the family cherished extra time with her.
To all who knew her, Paulette leaves this message, her mantra throughout her journey:
“This is not goodbye. I never ever gave up, it was just time to go.”
