Betty was born September 7, 1936 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Betty had a giving, loving heart and showed it every day of her life. As a Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Mother in-law, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt, Great Aunt she cherished and cared for FAMILY. She was an avid swimmer and diver in her younger years, competing and winning many awards and accolades. Betty’s life was filled helping others in so many ways. She helped children overcome their fear of the water and learn to swim, she volunteered at many events, curling, golf, BC Games. Volunteering was key in her retirement years, with Hospital Auxiliary, Schubert Centre, Langley Seniors Centre, Chartwell, etc. Betty’s enthusiasm for sports will be remembered in how she cheered and supported all her children’s sporting events as well as her grandchildren’s sporting events. Betty loved and cared for her family deeply and will always be remembered for the love and pride she had of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Betty was predeceased by her husband Robert (Bob) in 2006, and her grandson Cody Howard in 1989.
Betty will be fondly remembered by daughters Jane Morris (Don), Shirley Thompson (Tommy), Brenda Hopper (Don Smirl) and son Ross Howard (Shelley). She will be remembered by grandchildren, Heather Coxworth (Kyle), Jill Morris, Nathan Morris (Danielle), Nicolas Calla (Nikki), Austin Calla (Ela), Mathew Doyle (Victoria), Dennis Hopper (Olivia), Justine Weins, Ronnie Todter (Doriem), Kelsey Todter (Franz). Great grandchildren Gavin, Liam and Paige Coxworth, Zack and Sam Morris. Betty is also survived by one sister and many nieces and nephews.
A family Celebration of Life was held September 16, 2023, outdoors at Paddlewheel Park in Vernon, BC.
A second Celebration of Life for friends and family on the coast was held on September 30, 2023, in Surrey BC.
