Richard Duane Jones

OJAI, CA

Richard D. Jones, 81, passed away peacefully November, 14th 2015 after a valiant battle with cancer.

Richard was born October 1, 1934 in Santa Barbara, CA to his parents Horace M. Jones and Ada M. Jones. Richard served his country in the US Navy for 24 years; the majority of this time was served aboard submarines in the Pacific. After retiring from the Navy he returned to school and graduated with a B.S. in Education from California Lutheran College. He taught at Camarillo State Hospital in the Children’s Program for several years. Richard met his sweetheart and future wife Caroline Hubbard at Nordhoff High School in Ojai, CA. They married in 1956. Lived in Hawaii, San Diego and then returned to Ojai in 1973.

He was proceeded in death by both his parents and his sister, Jeanne Amon.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Caroline Jones; his daughter, Katherine Hall (Rich), son, Lawrence Jones (Heidi), son Richard Jones (Rena), and his loving grandchildren Per (Patricia), Thomas, Nichelle, Nicole, Ian, Nathan and Neil; his brothers James (Suzanne) Jones and Alan Jones.

A celebration of Richard’s life will be held, Saturday, November 21st, 11am, at Live Oak Christian Fellowship, located at 441 Church Road in Ojai. An inurnment will take place at a later date at The National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii.
