Margaret Distl Gage

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend. She took her last breath and entered her eternal home on Thursday March 17th 2011. She was born July 26, 1932 in Weprowatz, Yugoslavia.

Margaret spent her youth growing up in Germany. In 1952, she came to America with her parents and two younger brothers looking for a better life. They ended up in Ventura, where in 1955 she met and married the love of her life, Carl L. Gage. Over the next 7 years they had five children. Margaret was a devoted homemaker and was always there not only for her children, but also as a surrogate mother to many of the children in our neighborhood.

Margaret was a strong Christian and we know that she is now watching us from her home in paradise. For many years she was a devoted member of the Peoples Church in Ventura, and most recently had been attending the Avenue Community Church where she was loved by all who knew her.

Margaret is survived by her husband of over 55 years, Carl L. Gage Sr. Their 5 children and their families: Maggie Stumpf, husband Steve, son Logan, of Ventura. Carl L. Gage Jr, wife Alpha, daughter Jessica, of Arvada, Colorado. Barbara Hansinger, husband Thomas, sons: William, Andrew and Joseph of Hartland Wisconsin. Sandra Buckley, husband Robert of Oxnard, children: Cortney Peterson, Kelly, Jennifer (her son Kaiden Gan) and Dennis Buckley of Oxnard , Robert Buckley Jr., (Fiancé Jennifer Worsley) of Camarillo. Linda Gage, son James Gage of Ventura. Margaret is also survived by her brothers: Jacob (Katie) Distl, and their family of Ventura. Adam (Barbara) Distl Jr. of Ojai, and their family. She is survived by sisters in law: Gennie (Roy Sr.) Cole of Visalia, Charlene (Richard) Young of Yreka and Darlene (Tony) Mata and their families. Margaret also leaves behind her most cherished friends Margaret and Fred Vibbart and their family of Ventura.

She was preceded in death by her parents Barbara and Adam Distl, Sr., (1989), and nephew Steven Distl (1988).

Services will be held on Monday, March 28, 2011, 1:00P.M., at Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Rd., Ventura.
