Joseph (Joe) Smith was born Sept. 12, 1937 to William and Edna Smith in Westwood, OR; he was called home Monday May 27, 2013 after a brief illness.
Before Joe retired in 2001, he was a roofer, electrician, maintenance supervisor in the health care industry and even, at 18, joined the U.S. Navy on a dare! Joe’s talents were diverse, but his passions even more so. He read his Bible every night, testified his faith to anyone who wanted to listen, he was a prayer warrior and would sometimes pray for 2 hours making sure he mentioned every loved one. He loved his family which included his wife Susie, of 20+ years, his 3 children, 2 step-children, 13 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; sisters: Marjorie and Judy and brother/best friend Bill. He loved his menagerie of animals, taking his bass boat fishing and especially loved the Dodgers, so much so that he had to have extra TV channels installed so he never missed a game.
A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sat. June 8, 2013 at Charles Carroll Funeral Home, with Rev. Jonathan Mulford officiating.
