After an extended illness caused by an accidental fall last Christmas day, Jimmie Lee Morris quietly passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2014. He was born at home on MacFarland Street in Ventura on November 1, 1929 to Justin Lawrence Morris and Ocie Mae Blankinship Morris. Jimmie spent his childhood living in Casitas Springs, CA. He attended both Nordhoff and Ventura High Schools.
In 1953, Jimmie married Della Elaine Jenkins in Santa Barbara and settled in the Ojai Valley in “the little house in Meiners Oaks.” He spent the bulk of his working years in the oilfield industry and had the opportunity to work all over Ventura County. Jimmie loved to hunt and fish and spent many happy retirement years with family and friends camping and fishing at Lake Casitas. He kept his mind sharp watching Jeopardy and solving crosswords puzzles. Jimmie was an avid football fan and the San Diego Chargers were his favorite team. He loved his family and enjoyed nothing better than being surrounded by them during all the holidays.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Della Elaine; sister, Emma Lee Stobaugh; and three brothers, Billy Briton Morris, Faye Rastus Morris, and Ray Justin Morris. He is survived by his children, Ron Showman of San Luis Obispo, Susie Provost of Oak View, Vern Anderson (wife Cyndi) of Edmonds, WA, Cathy DeRemer (husband Rolly) of Oxnard, David Morris (wife Yvonne) of Meiners Oaks, and Darrel Morris (partner Archie Williams) of Snohomish, WA; thirteen grandchildren; and thirty-four great grandchildren.
