Coming from a very musical family, Helen was a gifted singer, dancer, and performing artist. During World War II, at the age of 14, she entertained our servicemen at regional USO shows. Following her graduation from high school, Helen’s talents led her to attend UCSB, where she majored in Music.
Helen was 21 years of age when she married Christopher E. Webb of Santa Maria. They had two sons; Andrew G. Webb, born in 1952, and Randall K. Webb, born in 1954. In 1962, Mrs. Webb moved with her growing family to Ventura, California, where she lived until her passing at age 88. During the course of her life, Helen enjoyed close and ongoing relationships with her numerous friends. Many of these friendships lasted over 80 years.
Mrs. Webb was known as a second mother to many of the children who grew up on Stratford Avenue. She loved to entertain, and the door was always open to friends and neighbors alike. Guests would often hear her husband Chris say, “If you go away hungry, it’s your own damn fault.”
Mrs. Webb was passionate in her unwavering commitment to Community Memorial Hospital’s Auxiliary program. Her volunteerism with this organization spanned four decades, during which time she assumed many roles, including that of president.
She is survived by her son, Randall, and his wife Linda, who currently live in Portland, OR.
Arrangements are under the direction of Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura. Condolences may be left at TedMayrFuneralHome.com.
