Emma Cecelia “Cel” Palmer, 83, of Ventura, died Monday, April 12, 2010 following a lengthy illness. She was born March 27, 1927 in Columbus, Ohio, and had been a Ventura County resident 57 years.
A loving wife, mother and homemaker, Cel had been president of the E.P. Foster PTA from 1954-1957, a Cub Scouts den mother, and president of the Ventura Elks bowling league. She loved bowling, crochet, playing the organ, and spending time with family.
Cel is survived by her husband of 63 years, Raymond Palmer; son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Georgia Palmer of Camarillo; grandsons, Shawn Palmer and his wife, Alejandra, of Camarillo, and Jeffrey Palmer, DC, of Burbank; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Nicole Palmer, of Camarillo; sister, Peggy DeConnick of Johnstown, Ohio; and sisters-in-law, Mary Jane DeConnick of Columbus, Ohio, and Mary DeConnick of Cypress, Tex.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Ernestine DeConnick; sister, Weggie DeConnick; and brother, Bob DeConnick.
A funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Friday, April 16, 2010 at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Rd., Ventura, with the Reverend Dan Hull of the Church of the Nazarene officiating. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, 1996 Eastman Ave., Ventura, CA 93003; or the Ventura County Chapter of the American Diabetes Association, 6300 Wilshire Blvd., Ste. 100, Los Angeles, CA 90048-5202.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home and Crematory, Ventura.
