Cynthia Kay (Telgenhoff) Johnston died suddenly Saturday, August 21, 2010 at her home in Ventura. Cynthia was born December 20th, 1956 to George and Barbara Telgenhoff in Traverse City, MI. She was always outgoing and bubbly, all throughout her life. While attending Fenton High School, in Fenton MI, she was active in her student body and was a member of the softball and basketball teams.
After doing a tour of Europe, she ventured out to California, where she was introduced to the future love of her life, Brad. After settling in Ventura CA, they spent 32 loving years together, where they raised their two children, Katie and Matt.
Cindy touched hearts wherever she went. She worked for a wonderful company, and for the last twelve years, Nye & Nelson, was her second family. She was also actively involved in charity work; holding several positions for the Delta Theta Tau Sorority, Leading her daughter’s Girl Scout troop for eight years and helping her son to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.
No one was more devoted to family than Cindy. She was always planning and organizing all of the family gatherings. She was the foundation of our lives. She was known to light up a room with her smile and quick wit. Cindy loved to camp on the beach, especially at Carpentaria State Beach, where she always had her R.V. decorated with her patriotic lights and decorations. Her favorite thing to do was watch the sunset, surrounded by her loved ones.
Nothing brought a smile to her face quicker than her grandson Cooper. No matter what she was doing, she always made time for him; whether it was a game of Go Fish or just to read him a story and rub his back. He was light of her life.
Cindy was preceded in death by her beloved son, Matthew and her father, George Telgenhoff.
She is survived by her husband, Bradley; daughter, Katie; Grandson; Cooper; Mother, Barbara; brother, Tom; Sister, Cherie and many other loving relatives and friends.
Although many hearts are breaking with the loss of Cindy, we are comforted in knowing she has gone home to be with her loving son, Matt. She always will be loved and missed by all who know and loved her. You’re forever in our hearts!
