Anthony Edward “Tony” George, 95, of Santa Barbara, completed his journey on earth and went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 29, 2012 from the Ojai Valley Community Hospital. He was born August 14, 1917 to Antonio R. and Mary (Perria) George in the Sisquoc Valley of Santa Maria.
Tony proudly served his country in World War II with the United States Navy Seabees, as WaterTender1st Class.
He earned high respect during his forty four year career working for Shell Oil as Plant Manager, Coastal Production Division, retiring in 1985.
Tony’s love of cars and mechanics became a lifelong passion. “He could fix anything”.
Tony married the love of life in 1948, Frances Wade, who preceded him in death. He loved and missed her deeply and looked forwarded to being reunited with Frances as well as his parents and little sister.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Antonia Burnett; three grandsons, Robert, Jason and Mark Burnett; sister, Mary Ann Burright; nieces and nephews, Chuck and Eleanora Burright and family, and Linda and Gary Gartrell and family all of Ojai.
The family would like to thank The Manor of Ojai for their care of Tony. Also, Ojai Valley Community Hospital, especially Gail Gesselman.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, January 15, 2013, 11:00 A.M. at Santa Barbara Cemetery, 901 Channel Drive, Santa Barbara, with Father Michael Jennett from San Roque Catholic Church officiating. The United States Navy will render military honors.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3150 Loma Vista Rd., Ventura.
