It is with heavy hearts and sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother/grandmother, Anita Louise (De Los Santos) Schmidt, 78, of Ventura. Surrounded by her loving daughters, son-in law and grandchildren, Anita passed away on March 7, 2018. Anita was born on June 6, 1939 in Santa Paula, California on the Limoneira Ranch to Ramon and Felipe De Los Santos and was a lifelong Ventura resident.
Anita worked for the County of Ventura, Health Care Agency, for 20 plus years, where she worked in the kitchen, out-patient clinic as Nurses Services, the County jail, and as a Nursing Assistant where she later retired in 1987.
She was a member of the Ventura Moose Lodge, #1394, for over 30 years, where she held the office of Academy of Friendship for numerous years. Mom loved spending time with her close friends, traveling, playing UNO and going out to dinner on the weekends. Mom’s greatest love in life was her family and spending time with them, especially the individual times she spent with us, however, nothing compared to spending time with her grandkids; that is what made her smile. Most recently she loved her new BFF/ grand-doggie, Harley, just got the biggest kick out of him and he loved her too (she was never a fan of pets). She spoke with such adoration and pride of each of her children and grandchildren.
Those who knew our mother, know she was driven, strong willed, hardworking and accomplished a lot, with raising three girls on her own, before meeting the love of her life, her husband Wes of 38 years.
As we are heartbroken of the loss of our beautiful mother, we find comfort that she is at peace and in the arms of our beloved dad.
Anita is survived by her three daughters and son-in-law, Lori Fuller, Karen Ishihara, Mike Ishihara, and Sheri Garcia; grandchildren, Sarah Fuller, Anise Rivas, Lindsey Fuller, and Cameron Garcia; along with her four sisters and brother. Anita was preceded in death by the love of her life, Wes Alan Schmidt; her parents, Ramon and Felipe De Los Santos; along with her sister and three brothers.
A memorial service and celebration of Anita’s life will be held Saturday, April 7, 2018, 11:00 A.M., at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura. A reception will follow at The Poinsettia Pavilion, 3451 Foothill Road, Ventura.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home.
