Richard was born on March 23, 1960 in Bristol, Connecticut. He graduated from Litchfield High School in Litchfield, Connecticut in 1977. He immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served from 1978-1982. His tour of duty was diverse with him operating as a Torpedoman on the destroyer USS Prairie.
Richard was a devoted family man and husband; he led by example. Among his many interests he loved to work on cars and would fix them for anyone who needed help. He also enjoyed building and working on golf carts. There was never a job too large or too small that Richard would not tackle.
All who loved Richard dearly will never forget his tenacity, wit, charm and undying love. His proudest achievement was marrying his wife Debbie, of fifteen years. He serenaded her on their wedding with the song “Bless the broken road” and together they spent blissful hours riding their Harleys touring the countryside.
Richard is survived by wife, Deborah Roy; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Sheree Roy; daughter and son-in-law, Faith and Glenn Harden; son and daughter-in law: Morgan and Kitzie Kilburn; sole granddaughter, Remi Lynn Roy; 2 sisters, Penny and David Fitzmiller and Valerie and Theodore “Ted” Raymond; several nieces and nephews and a few great and wonderful friends.
