Ann Kathryn Werner was born in Beech Grove, Indiana, grew up in Indianapolis, and joined the Order of St. Francis Convent in Oldenburg, Indiana. She was known for many years as Sister Mary Ivo. After teaching and youth ministry for many years in Indianapolis and Cincinnati, 6 she moved on to counseling services on Native American Reservations in Montana, and then with Native peoples in Papua, New Guinea. Ann retired to Monticello, Indiana where she cared for her aged mother until her mother's death.
Ann’s final move was to a Senior Facility in Venice, Florida where she continued caring for seniors in need of advocacy, assistance, transportation, and other care. She was much beloved by her many special friends and neighbors.
Ann was a treasured daughter, sister, Sister, Aunt (Annie Alligator), teacher, minister, counselor and cared deeply for the hearts of the downcast, the differently abled and the ‘misfits’ of society. She worked always for equity and true freedom for all without bias.
Ann is survived by her twelve siblings, their spouses, and dozens of nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great-grand nieces and nephews.
Rest in Peace, Annie.
