Bob was an avid sportsman, enjoying almost everything outdoors. He hunted and fished at every opportunity, and was known for his determination on the river and his generosity in sharing his bounty with friends and family all year, regardless of the season. He hiked and snow-skied with his wife, and he often picnicked and shot targets in the woods with his entire family. Bob was a presence and major contributor in his daughter’s academic, athletic, and social activities, whether it was a homework helper, soccer line-ref, assistant coach, confidential sounding board, or just a proud parent and spectator. His gentle personality, positive outlook, generous nature and unconditional smile were trademark, as was his mechanical and technical abilities. He was able and persistent in conquering any obstacle. He enjoyed hot rods and car shows, and took pride in “perfecting” his own. He enjoyed--even thrived--on work or home projects presenting a challenge, and was readily available to “own” a friend or family member’s needs. The first “go-to” for nearly everyone he knew, he genuinely loved people and his life.
Bob is survived by his wife Rhonda and daughter Hanna of his home and his step-son James of Portland, OR. His parents Joe and Sandra Oldfield Bailey reside in Vancouver. Remaining also are his brother and sister-in-law Joe & Fran Bailey, of Vancouver WA, and his brother Brian Bailey of Battle Ground, WA.. He treasured his nephew Casey New (Vancouver) and his nieces, Tiara Nosar (Vancouver) and Brittany Bailey (Kent, WA), and was always close to his Aunt Shirley Oldfield (Lacey, WA) and Sharon Baker (Phoenix, AZ). A popular and unconditional friend to everyone that knew him, Bob is recognized as an extended family member of countless individuals. To list every party that called him family would be literally impossible.
