Yung Chup Lo went to his heavenly home on Monday, June 12th, 2023 at the age of 92. After a courageous battle with cancer, Yung Chup died peacefully with his beloved children and grandchildren by his side. He was a respected father, grandfather, and a Christian.
Yung Chup fought his battle against cancer for many years. Despite spending a lot of time in and out of the hospital, he never lost his sense of humour. Throughout his entire journey, he cracked jokes with his grown children and daughter in law, made silly faces with his grandchildren, and even made smart and cheeky comments whenever he could. He had an amazing ability to make others smile and his sense of humour will be missed.
After welcoming Jesus as his saviour and becoming a son of God, Yung Chup started living his life with purpose. He realized that since being open to Christ and his teachings, that he became able to give and receive love, admittedly leaving his stubborn ways behind.
Yung Chup was born in Hoi Ping, China on October 20th, 1930. He married his beloved wife at the age of 22 and had three children. While their life was great in Hong Kong, they took the leap as a family and immigrated to Canada in 1987, calling Prince George home for many years before Yung Chup moved to Vancouver 5 years ago with his eldest son and daughter in law.
With his love for food, moving to Vancouver was an absolute dream. He was the happiest when he was able to gather his family to go to a restaurant and treat them to a great meal - most famously; the King Crab. This is how he got the nick name “Big Boss” as he would be so eager to pay the bill before dinner was over.
Yung Chup was predeceased in death by his parents, his two sisters and his wife. He is survived by his children; Andy Lo (wife Aggie Lo), Kendy Lo (wife Christine Lo), and Stella Lo, grandchildren; Joanna Yu, Eric Lo, Jennifer Yu, and James Yu.
The service will be held at the Mount Pleasant Universal Funeral Home on 306 E 11th Avenue, Vancouver, on June 26, 2023. All are invited to attend. The repast will follow immediately after at Lee Garden Seafood Restaurant on 6401 Kingsway, Burnaby at 1:00 PM. For those who are not able to attend the service in person, there will be a live stream available to join virtually.
