Siu Ka was born to Him-Joe Chow and Ching Kou Wu on July 3, 1931 in Kai Ping, China. He moved to Hong Kong in 1950 and in 1968 he met his future wife, Shannon, while working together at the same textile company; they would eventually be married for 45 years. He moved to Vancouver, Canada in 1973 followed by Shannon a couple years later, and shortly got married thereafter. Their first son Jeremy was born in 1976. A few years later they had their second son Clifton. Siu Ka was a stoic and dedicated husband and father. A very hard worker, he didn’t get to travel much outside of a handful of trips back to Hong Kong to visit family, especially his two sisters and mother. After retirement, he and Shannon were able to make the most of it and traveled extensively around the world making fond memories impressively by backpacking and staying in hostels. Later on, they both discovered the benefits of cruises, which allowed them to visit an even greater variety of destinations. Siu Ka loved to play the erhu and even did so well into his later years despite struggling with a number of health issues including hearing and vision loss. His strength and perseverance will be remembered and forever missed.
