It's with profound sadness we announce the passing of John Roles at Burnaby General Hospital on May 30 2023 at age 71. He passed away very peacefully surrounded by people he loved.
John was an extremely talented musician and song writer. At 14 years of age, he was in his first band "The Silver Strings" in Pickering, Ontario. Throughout his career he played with many well known bands including Bond, Jerry Doucette and Chilliwack. In 2019 John was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Toronto through his work with Chilliwack.
Everyone who knew John appreciated his talent and his gentle manner. He had a large circle of friends bonded by similar passions for music. He touched many people with his sense of humour and kindness. He will be greatly missed by his soulmate Chris Kurmis, his sister and brother, Pat and Ted Roles, and his nieces and nephew, Ian and Caitlin, Stephanie, Sarah and Megan.
We will all miss him more than words can say, but he will be forever in our hearts and our memories. A gathering to celebrate John's life will be held on Sunday August 27 at 3 pm in Deer Lake Park in Burnaby.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.vancouvercrematorium.com for the Roles family.
