Our family is saddened to announce the passing of our beloved son, Jimmy Huang on November 24th, 2021. Jimmy was born on July 11, 1992, in Guangzhou, China. He moved to Richmond, Canada in 1999 with his mother and attended J.N. Burnett Secondary School.
Jimmy touched the lives of many with his sense of humor and playfulness; always looking to have fun with his friends. Some of Jimmy’s favorite activities were composing songs on his MacBook, playing music on a piano, and sending his mom silly cat photos on his phone. We would like to share a song that Jimmy composed and posted on YouTube, aptly titled “Never let you go” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=koqVRgK9Jl0
Jimmy was a kind and gentle soul who sadly struggled for many years from mental illness. Anyone who knew Jimmy, knew that he was incredibly kindhearted and loved his family dearly. He always tried his best to do what was right and picked himself up whenever he fell. He tried to be a friend to everyone he met, and his smile touched so many people.
Jimmy’s fight ended on November 24th, 2021, where he finally found eternal peace and tranquility. Jimmy’s struggle is also something that millions of other individuals share, and we would like to spread awareness of mental health and the resources available to those who struggle with the disease.
Jimmy will always be remembered by his parents, grandmother, his aunts and uncles, his many cousins and his brother and sister.
A private funeral arrangement is being handled by Vancouver Memorial Services and Crematorium located at 5505 Fraser St, Vancouver and will take place on Thursday, December 9th from 12:00 noon to 1:00pm. The family asks that you respect their wishes that only immediate family members and close friends attend the funeral. In lieu of flowers or a card we ask that you consider donating to RAPS Regional Animal Protection Society in Richmond at https://www.rapsbc.com/donate-to-raps-emergency-cases-fund/ and/or to the Canadian Mental Health Association of BC https://cmha.bc.ca/individual-donation-form/.
Our family is grateful for your love and support during this difficult time. Please hug a loved one and take a moment to express the love they bring to your life. The family would like to leave you with a poem written by Jimmy, found on the last page of his journal.
In a night like this
Makes me think of you
Why didn’t I have the courage to say
I did all the things you like
Hope you realized it
We were watching stars out in the field
Where the lights haven’t turned off
Looking at each other with no clue
But who is gonna to say it first
That I love you.
By Jimmy Huang
