My condolences in your loss of a man who, to my recollection, was larger than life. I knew George as one of my late father, Manfred's dearest life-long friends. Dad would bring our family of six on the occasional road or rail trips to visit and I also remember the Russian nesting dolls. Most notably, George built us a beautiful cedar cradle, embellished with dogwood flower carvings. Although the cradle arrived after we children were grown, it rocked Manfred's precious grandbabies and will be a cherished heirloom for many generations to come. Thank you George for being a loyal friend to Dad.

Going to the Krieger's house in Kitsilano as a young girl was always an adventure.  My brothers and sisters and I would always love walking up that amazing staircase to reach the landing and play with the russian dolls. One always knew where George was because you could hear his laughter before you saw him.  George was such a kind and generous man, he was one of my fathers dearest friends.  God Bless,

George was the best neighbour and friend, Judi & I will sorely miss all the fence side conversations.  He had many amazing stories of his outdoor adventures… to name a few… climbs on Mount McKinley!, Mnt Slesse after the air crash, and Vancouver to Alaska by outboard boat! Also he usually had a funny story, the skunk in the tent was a particularly good one. I have to wholeheartedly second Barry's' earlier comment “George was always ready to lend a hand”, and add that he was always at the ready to teach you how to build something properly. Only a month ago when most in his condition wouldn't be walking, he trundled next door and up the steps to hang out my window to give me a lesson on stucco.

At times of a tool or construction crisis question, it wouldn't be just some vague response, it would be more like “you're going to use the 16 inch Hitachi”, or the Kango 750, or this or that… then he would return handing his sacred tools over the fence, often coming over to demonstrate the skill.  His garage sale team (George & co pilot Judy), have scored more tool deals for me than I can count.

In addition to all the tools, advice, and humour George passed over the fence he also shared many a tasty menu item (I think out of pity for a meat eater living in a household of vegetarians) I especially savoured his Herring salad, and Goulash.

George was the best neighbour one could ever hope to have - always ready to lend a hand and go the "extra mile" with his generosity. Not to forget that he was a master craftsman. We'll miss his wry sense of humour and the hearty "Right on" when you told about something good. He was the heart and soul of the neighbourhood and is much missed.

We are so sorry for your loss, Judy. George helped to change so many lives, and left us all a great gift.  Deep condolences to you and the family.

Judy, I'm very sorry for your loss. For your sake, I hope it's true that it's always darkest before the dawn and that new and brighter days are not far off for you. I'll always cherish the memories of George's unconditional love and support he gave me. My love and support will always be here for you.

George was the kindest and gentlest of friends, always encouraging, expecting the best in a person.  He was very willing to help you with his great multi-trade, abilities.  Skiing with George was one of my truly cherished experiences in life. I will miss him deeply.  George was very comfortable in his relationship with GOD and I know that he is healthy and at peace in his presence now and forever!

We were deeply saddened to hear about George, who was truly a kind and generous neighbour and friend. We will miss the sound of his laugh and seeing him in his workshop. Our condolences to the family.
