It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Reverend Douglas Keith Alexander, born on August 8, 1940, in Lethbridge, Alberta, and passed gently on November 19, 2024, in Langley, British Columbia, at the age of 84.
Doug grew up in the small community of Cayley, Alberta, just south of High River. His strong sense of community, compassion, and faith were fostered during his childhood years and would remain central to his life’s work. After dedicating many years to the service to others, as a X-Ray Technician and Jr. High School Teacher, Doug retired as a Minister in the United Church of Canada, having served congregations across Canada, including in Douglastown, New Brunswick; Edmonton, Alberta; Calgary, Alberta; Langley, British Columbia; and Tsawwassen, British Columbia. His ministry touched countless lives, offering comfort, guidance, and love to all those who crossed his path.
Doug was known for his warmth, incredible sense of humor, and devotion to the people he served. He cherished the friendships he made along the way and was always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. His gentle spirit and unwavering faith were a beacon of light to many.
Doug was predeceased by his nephew Keith Aker, Brothers-In-Law Jim Evans, Austin Aker and Gordon Rasmusen, his sisterJean Aker, Great Nephew Lucas and Great-Great nephew Levi.
Doug is survived by his husband Daniel Ariss and will be dearly missed by his sisters Yvonne Evans and Myra Rasmusen, Nieces and Nephews Brenda (Bob) Baker, Colleen Hannah, Carla (Hildor) Ergang, Glen (Wendy) Croft, Cheryl (Bill) Holmes. There are a host of Great Nieces and Nephews as well as Great-Great Nieces and Nephews, Ryan, Nya, Kelsey, Jaxson, Jamie, Nicole, Troy, Trevor, Gemma, Tamara, Nathan, Travis, Brittney, Oakley, Kinsley, Kingsley, Jason, Krystal, Brooklyn, Ella, Judah, Adele, Julie, Scott, Everly, Lincoln, Bailey, Taylor, Jade, Justin, Addison, Hudson, Beckett, Keara, Nathan, Weston, Aiden, Wrenlee and a host of friends, including Daniel’s family, too numerous to mention. Doug will also live on in the hearts of his very special friends Hallet and Karen Llewellyn, their daughters Jennifer (Blake) and Kristina (Todd), and their grandchildren Owen, Elliott, Ethan, and Gavin.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 26 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at Glenhaven Memorial Chapel, 1835 East Hastings St, Vancouver, British Columbia.
A Service of Witness to the Resurrection celebrating Doug’s life will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Cloverdale United Church, 17575 58A Avenue, Surrey, British Columbia.

Daniel would like to thank the Nurse Practitioner, Nurses, Care Aids and Staff at Langley Lodge for the loving, compassionate and professional care given to Doug over the past three and a half years.
