Diana came to Canada with her family as a teenager, having spent her earlier years in Taiwan where she was born. She studied Economics at UBC, and began her career in banking. She further developed it into investments and a variety of business activities, becoming a successful entrepreneur and investor who rang the closing bell at NASDAQ. Her philanthropic heart then led her to co-found the Cansbridge Fellowship with her husband William, which has created lasting impacts on many young people across Canada. Through it all, she regarded her two sons as her greatest pride and contribution.
All who met Diana knew her for the strong will with which she faced the world and the fierce loyalty she showed her family and friends. Though often called to be public-facing, Diana was a deeply private person. She took great joy in organizing extended family gatherings in different locations, as well as cultivating deep friendships with those whom she cared about.
Diana is survived by her immediate family of husband William Yu, two sons Conrad and Byron, and also her mother Chao Chi Liu, two brothers Joseph (wife Ann, son Isaac) and Steven (wife Stella, son Nathan and daughter Natasha), along with many uncles, nieces and nephews throughout Asia and North America.
We will forever miss Diana as this chapter of her soul’s journey concludes. Her impact in the world will continue to be felt by the people she has touched.
