Destiney Candice Justice Barton was born on August 22, 1999, in Vancouver, BC, to her loving parents, Cristtle Barton and Dennis Wilson. She was a proud member of the Nisga’a, Haisla and Haida nations, carrying the strength of her Ancestors throughout her life.
Destiney spent her early years surrounded by family, living with her mom at Auntie Karla’s home before moving into Native housing with her mom. She was a shy child at first but came alive with music, singing, and playing with family and friends. She loved cuddling with her family and listening intently to their stories, always finding comfort in those moments.
Following in her mother’s footsteps, Destiney pursued a passion for cooking, with a special talent for baking, where her creativity truly shone. The births of her children, Taylor and Aurora, were her most treasured moments. A devoted mother, she balanced her responsibilities with strength and grace, graduating high school while raising Taylor.
Despite the challenges she faced, including the loss of her beloved mother, Cristtle, Destiney’s resilience and warmth left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her. Destiney will be deeply missed by her children, Taylor and Aurora; her father, Dennis Wilson; her siblings; and her extended family and friends. She is now reunited with her mother and the Ancestors.
Destiney’s journey into the Spirit World was so sudden and unexpected as she embarked on December 10, 2024. Her kindness, strength, and love will forever remain in our hearts.
