My deepest condolences to you.  We will always remember the great times we shared with Bonnie.   My best memories are from the Leo Club camping trips where we had great laughs playing silly games and drinking games.  The best games were boys vs girls and Bonnie was always our target.  Why?  Because Bonnie was such a good sport and would never get mad at us!

It saddens me that we will never have the opportunity to do that again.  Bonnie, rest in peace and may your beautiful smile shine down on us.  Until we meet again Lucky Star!

Dearest Yan family

I am so sorry for your loss of a beautiful daughter, sister, and aunt. I share your pain.

There is an emptiness I can't describe, knowing one of the best, funniest, and most selfless humans I have ever know has left us to fend for ourselves in 2020. This whole year should just be cancelled.

I am told time will heal most, but not all. I want to wish Bonnie's family peace. It will never be easy without Bonnie, but hopefully with time it will be a bit easier to move on.

Nanny B, you were so kind to me.  Last time when I visited Vancouver, you took me a tour around the city and we had great time together. I still remember the bucket and ginger ale you got for me.

Bonnie, you figured it out. You had always figured things out. It was your happy-go-lucky optimism that first drew me, a shy 13-year-old, to you, but it was your kindness, quick wit and genuine friendship that kept me connected to you all these years.  You had always seemed at ease with the world, never took anything too seriously and always, always remembered to laugh and to make others laugh.

You figured out how to embrace life, so you travelled to places many of us still only dream of.

You figured out how to stay close to your family: you literally bought the house next to your parents.

You figured out the meaning of friendship – and that is why so many of us are mourning your sudden passing.  

Now, we will need to figure out how to move past these dark days without you.  You knew we had always said that you were the kid born with a lucky horseshoe, but truly we are the ones lucky enough to have known you. Thank you for all the joy and happiness you brought to this world while you were here. Rest in peace, Bonnie. You will be remembered.   I love you.




It is with much sadness and shock that we learned of Bonnie’s sudden and unexpected passing.  We will never forget you, Bonnie, and all the wonderful memories we shared when you visited us here in New Zealand. Thanks for being such an awesome Superintendent while I worked as a student and providing such awesome guidance and support during my time at the airport.

It was always good to see you in public at random times and thanks for always stopping and making the time to chat.  It was only a few months when I last bumped into you and I cannot believe you are now gone.

Though we didn't see each other often, being with you made me feel at ease just like you were my close family.  Every time we visited Vancouver, we were spoiled by your warm hospitality.

Bonnie, I loved the time we spent together laughing at the silliest of things. You always brought smiles to everyone around you. I remember us bidding you goodbye as you departed on your cruise. I’m sure you are on a journey to your next adventure, you will forever live on in our hearts.

I had the good fortune of knowing Bonnie through her brother Andy.  Years ago, I would chat with her at the door with the late Snoopy-the-dog.  But I connected with her more in the days and years after she spotted a very ill Andy coming back into Canada from the US.....a legendary story for how perceptive she was!

Last year I ran into Bonnie by chance at a work meeting I had - and here's the selfie from that day! Great to be able to remember her both personally and professionally!

I’m still baffled, trying to accept your ridiculous early departure from us... I’m going to miss you so much... your smiles, your laughter, and your hugs. Your signature special soya sauce and your veggie platters for hotpot and baked sweet potato, just to name a few will forever be missed. You were my Ovaltine food product supplier! My Vancouver visits won’t ever be the same without you. 

You’ve become such an important member to our Toronto family since knowing you in 2008 (kitty&rocky’s wedding)! Your Toronto visit is never complete without a “giant lobster meal” and a game of Mah Jong!

You’ve created so many amazing memories throughout the years for me. You taken me to the temple, China World Supermarket, West Vancouver, outlets, tons of food places to satisfy my cravings, and you were my all time “Bubble Queen” mate!

I had planned to come to Vancouver twice this year to visit and to spend time with you ... but with the world’s health crisis... all I have now is my last picture with you from May 2019....

Bonnie... You were a selfless, generous, and beautiful wellbeing that was true to everyone. We lost you way too soon...but your legacy will live on and we know you’ll continue to watch over us.

Bonbon,  you were a big part of our family.   You were always there for us, helping us at whatever we needed.   We didn’t even have to ask and you knew what we needed.  We had  so many unbelievable, hilarious moments throughout the past 23 years together.  From our little Leos club, to our numerous island glamping trips (horseshoe wheelbarrow game 😂 )  to all the Black Fridays for the past 12 years, there were just so many memories.  We were supposed to make so many more in the future especially with how good you are to the kids.  

I will miss all our late night chats and WhatsApp-ing, cuz you never sleep and was always there for me. You would always be the one telling me, “Kel, check this out” or “order this toy, it’s the next biggest thing.”  You were right were always right with your recommendations, you were always ahead of all the rest.  Here you are again, ahead of us again in heaven first!   I know you’ll be looking after us like how you looked after everyone when you were here with us.   We were so blessed to have you be part of our lives!

Bonnie you will be missed dearly. Heartbreaking to know that when I finally move back to YVR we will not be retiring together and  going on our weekend jaunts. I can’t believe I will not have you to chat to and get advise from. You left us too early however, I will always remember your smile, laugh, love for life and food greatly. I know you are still around us, but just at a little higher level... up in the heaven. I never met any girls like you, happy, funny and energetic.

Sometime I ask my Heavenly Father why take away you from us so early. But I guess Heaven are just too formal and it need you to speak it up.

Though it was short, Aubrey was lucky to have met you. Especially as of recently, we felt our families got even closer sharing our renovation experiences and seeing Aubrey also helping us buy baby supplies when you see a good deal. She knows how nice you were to her and our family and we are forever grateful.

We also talked about how we can't wait to for us to come visit for a BBQ and having sushi. One day we will share these experiences.

I will never forget how kind you were with me when I came to ILSC 20 years ago. JC you called me, you were my first friend in Vancouver  and confident, so I was Yours. You will be always in my heart and thoughts. God bless you and I hope some day we will  meet again.

I knew Bonnie since childhood when the family lived on Parker Street.  I was fortunate enough to share some fun times with Bonnie and her brothers growing up.  She always teased me in a fun way which I will always remember and keep dear to my heart.  Thank you Bonnie for the childhood memories.  Heaven is lucky to have another angel amongst them.

My wonderful cousin Bonnie. It is with the greatest sadness writing this.  Every time i think of you i remember your cheerful laughter and warm smile. The very last time we were together, we were stung by  jelly fish and we contemplated peeing on each others wounds. we were so silly. I will forever cherish that memory.  Until we meet again. Bonnie and I were childhood friends.  I will remember Bonnie's kindness; joy; laughter; and friendship. It was Bonnie that invited me to Sunday School.  We prayed together; read the Holy Bible; and asked Jesus/God to live in our hearts when we were in grade 6. I believe Bonnie is in Heaven.  I am grateful that Bonnie and I saw each other at the store recently.  I will miss you Bonnie; see you in Heaven.  My prayers and thoughts are with Bonnie's family and friends. I always remember Bonnie's smiling face at the Leos Club.  She is so cheerful, humourous, positive and friendly.  I also met her  many times at dinner parties and at YVR.  She would just come over and had a long conservation with me.
