It is with great sadness we share the passing of Annie Sau Chun Leung (nee Cheung) at the age of 86 years old, but also with tremendous gratitude for the time we had with her.
Annie was born in Macau in 1935, and after having lived in Macau, Brunei and Hong Kong, she
immigrated to Canada with her husband, Dominic, and three children in 1972 and made home in
Richmond, B.C.
Having grown up during the war, Annie learned to live independently in her early childhood years. She
moved from Macau to Hong Kong in her teens and became a manicurist where she met Dominic in a
beauty salon.
Annie moved to Brunei with Dominic, married there at the age of 21 and started a beauty salon in Brunei
where Dominic was the hairdresser and Annie was the manicurist. While the husband-and-wife team
operated the beauty salon in Brunei, Annie became the mother of three children.
In 1964, Annie returned to Hong Kong with Dominic and their three children and started Dominic’s
Coiffures with her husband in 1967. Annie continued to be a manicurist at the beauty salon whilst
providing loving care for their three children and her husband.
In 1972, Annie and Dominic moved to Canada with their children. Shortly thereafter, the couple started
Dominic’s Coiffures in Steveston, Richmond, B.C. Annie obtained her license in B.C. and operated
Dominic’s Coiffures with her husband as a hairdresser and a manicurist. In 1994, both Annie and Dominic
retired together. For 20 years after retirement, Annie and Dominic travelled to all continents of the world,
except Africa. Annie enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, was meticulous with cleanliness and
enjoyed playing mahjong with their friends in her healthier days.
Annie and Dominic enjoyed life to the fullest until the sad departure of Dominic in 2016 during their 60th
wedding anniversary cruise. By the grace of God, Annie was able to recover from the tragic and sudden
loss of Dominic and lived independently since Dominic’s departure with Jesus at the centre of her life.
Annie will be dearly missed by her three children Thomas (Rebecca), Paul (Christina) and Helena,
grandchildren Andrea, Simon, Alex, Andrew, Alyssa (Frank) and Theresa, great-grandchildren Evan and
Emma, and many family members and friends.
A prayer vigil will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022 at 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm and the Requiem Mass will
be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 11:00am, both at Canadian Martyrs Catholic Church, Richmond, followed by the entombment at Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 1:00pm.
