Roy Dudley Elkins, 90, of Van Buren, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2024 at his home. He was born August 4, 1933 in Magazine to the late Robert and Willie (Winders) Elkins. He was a tire salesman for Jim Grizzle Tire, and a member of Heritage Church in Van Buren. He was a member of the Crawford County Sheriff’s Mounted Patrol, a bat boy for the Fort Smith Giants, and a former member of the Van Buren Rotary Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Willa Deen Taylor and Dorothy Tucker; and a brother, Rev. Harold Elkins.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jeanette Phelps Elkins of the home; a daughter, Lisa Elkins (Tim) of Van Buren; a brother, Ramon Elkins of Fort Smith; four grandchildren, Andrew Elkins (Brooke) of Fayetteville, Elise Elkins of Van Buren, Daniel Elkins (Mary) of Van Buren, and Michael Elkins (Stephanie) of Conway; five great-grandchildren, Dawson, Alyssa, Luke, Hannah, and Hailey Elkins; his horse, Kaci; and two dogs, Susie and Dixie.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2024 at the Old Union First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Magazine with interment to follow at the Old Union Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Elkins, Daniel Elkins, Michael Elkins, Jim Elkins, Bubba Arnold, Dan Tucker, and Elise Elkins.
The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
