Peggy Ann Rhodes Whitlock

Peggy Ann Rhodes Whitlock of Mulberry, passed peacefully into eternal rest on Friday, December 2, 2016. She was one of four children born to the late James Opie Rhodes and Mae Agnes Raines in Van Buren on March 1, 1929; and married Solus Eugene Whitlock on June 10, 1949. Mrs. Whitlock taught for 18 years at Pleasant View School; and with her husband, she was the co-owner of Mill Creek Inn in Mulberry. She lived her life as a humble Christian full of love and serving those in the community selflessly. She always held a special place in her heart for children and animals. It goes without saying that she felt her greatest accomplishment was raising her three children and she was so proud of them. She was a member of the Dyer Church of Christ.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Eugene Whitlock of the home; two daughters, Lois Brown of Prairie Grove, and Dr. Jennifer Burks and husband Jeff of Fort Smith; a son, Steve Whitlock and wife Ann of Alma; a sister, Mary Merritt and husband Gary of Barling; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 5, 2016 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Chastain Cemetery at Georgia Ridge, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR. Mr. David Banks will be officiating.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Burks, Jeff Wagner, Rodney Root, Jackson Wagner, and Ryan Barber.

The family will visit with friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2016, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
