Jerry Gaye Center, 80, of Winslow, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2016 at his home. He was born October 29, 1935 in Fayetteville to the late Alvis and Sally Center. He worked at Dixie Cup for a number of years from 1960-1965, taught machine shop at Westark Community College, and had his own shop in Alma. He served in the U.S. Army, and was a member of the Alma F&AM Masonic Lodge #735. He was the youngest of ten brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sibyl Center.
He is survived by a son, Mark Center and wife Latisha Puckett of Winslow; and a granddaughter, Kadence Center.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with a committal service following at 4:00 p.m. at Blackburn Cemetery near Winslow, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
Pallbearers will be Jack Yancy, Charles B Brown, Kevin Edwards, Stacy Mullinex, Gary Provence, Daniel Voorhees, Matt Devore, Jim L Jones, and Bill Bradbury. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of the Machine Shop students he taught.
The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
