James “Mack” Forrest, 69, of Alma, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2017. He was born September 6, 1947 in Fort Smith to the late Mark Caswell & Elizabeth McLendon Forrest. He grew up in Alma and Ozark, graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, and was the former Business Manager of the Southwest Times Record. He then embraced his entrepreneurial side and opened several restaurants in Fort Smith and Ozark, before hanging up his apron to dabble in online antique and book sales. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Shelton Forrest.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Forrest of Fayetteville, and her partner Chris Alley.
A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation is under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
