Janet R. Nelson

Janet R. Nelson, age 78, of Ontario, California passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2022. Janet was born in Detroit, Michigan. Janet grew up in the Detroit Metro area and gave birth to her children Yvonne, Susan and William there. She spent a short time living in southern California where she gave birth to her last child, Jennifer. She and husband John moved the family to Northern Michigan in the early 1980s where they settled outside the small town of West Branch. On their 10 acres of land, city gal Janet learned to love life on the farm raising pigs, chickens and turkeys and growing all kinds of vegetables in her large, beautiful garden. Janet was well known for her kind and giving heart to family, friends, neighbors and co-workers. She spent 10 years working as a cashier and customer service clerk at the local Glen's Market where she got to work with her best friend of many years, Nancy Dull. Janet was a devoted wife and mother to her family as well as the best partner-in-crime when she and Nancy spent time together. And everyone she knew and worked with will always remember her fondly as the "cookie lady" for her beautiful Christmas cookie creations. Janet loved traveling to spend time with her grandchildren Richard (wife Crystal), Susan (fiance Patrick), Courtney, Breanna and Gabriel and her new great-grandson Lucas. She spent the last years of her life living in Ontario, California where she made new friends with the church ladies group and got to spend more time visiting with her sister and all her nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Janet will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Stone Funeral Home, 355 East 9th Street, Upland, CA 91786.
