Born Deanna Marie Ciabattoni on September 22, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois, she is the cherished daughter of Joseph and Norma, and the lively fourth sibling among Cathy, Randy, Jim, Dave, and Jeff. Deanna graduated from Mother Theodore Guerrin College Preparatory for Girls in River Grove, Illinois, in 1976. In September of the same year, Deanna moved to Upland, California, when her father, Joseph, relocated the family to the West Coast. She enrolled in Marinello’s School of Beauty in Upland igniting a passion for the Beauty industry that would illuminate her way for decades.
In a twist of fate, Deanna crossed paths with a young Douglas S. Norrdin, while working at her first salon in Upland in January of 1979. Little did she know that a single walk-in appointment would lead her to the love of her life. Captivated by the quiet charm of Doug, the two embarked in a whirlwind romance, leading them to tie the knot just one year later on January 12, 1980 at Chapel Of The Wildwood in Upland, California.
As newlyweds Doug and Deanna were quite the budding “power couple.” While Doug forged the path for his own company, Deanna blossomed as an entrepreneur in an industry where she would become a beacon of education and inspiration. Doug built his muscle car empire while Deanna established herself and partnered with her first salon. Their joy multiplied with the arrival of their son Eric, in 1982, followed by the birth of their daughter Malorie in 1986. With grace and determination, Deanna balanced her dual roles as a successful business owner and devoted mother. As their family blossomed, so did their businesses. Deanna opened her first solo salon, Clippings Hair Design on Archibald in 1995, and seventeen years later, the new Clippings on 19th in 2013. Deanna's love for being the mother of Eric and Malorie paralleled her entrepreneurial spirit, finding profound joy in empowering and mentoring young stylists to achieve their dreams and confidence in their craft. As she transitioned from styling hair to the business of mentoring others, the spark that ignited her journey all those years ago shone brightly in the lives of those she inspired!.
As the years passed, Deanna and Doug were blessed with the arrival of grandchildren and they remained her pride and joy. The “fantastic five” meant the world to her, and she loved her role as the devoted grandmother. Their laughter and boundless energy were the icing on her cake, filling her days with happy gratitude and memories to last a lifetime.
Deanna is survived by her father Joseph Ciabattoni, and her five siblings, Cathy, Randy, Jim, Dave & Jeff as well as her beloved husband, Doug Norrdin, their two children Eric Norrdin (Merrill) and Malorie Pulvers (Charlie), and her five grandchildren Broderick, Lily, Bennett, Charles and Monroe.
Deanna's legacy of love, dedication, and hard work will continue to inspire all those who had the privilege of knowing her. While we are deeply saddened by this great loss, we are so grateful to have shared in part of her lifetime. We celebrate our Deanna…a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, an aunt,a grandmother, a friend and a mentor. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered and held in our heart of hearts.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Upland on Wednesday, October 2nd at 1 o’clock in the afternoon.
A reception is to follow the service.
The family is asking in lieu of flowers for a donation be made in Deanna’s name to one of these charities near to her heart.
