Carol Jean Souza

Carol graduated from Beavercreek High School. She received a bachelors degree from Miami University and masters degree from Grand Canyon University. She was a member of Delta Zeta sorority. She was a devoted mother to her three children and touched the lives of many more children in over 25 years of teaching.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Mark Melancon, and her niece Gwendolyn Calhoun.

She is survived by her three children: Jennifer Melancon Erenburg (significant other Jeff Ludovico) Kyle Souza and Jessica Souza (significant other Blake Naudin). She is also survived by her sisters Sharon Kyle (Bill) of Cadiz, Ohio; Sandy Calhoun (Bob) of Fort Collins, Colorado; sister-in-law Kathy Burger (Rick) of Beavercreek, Ohio; mother-in-law Betty Sue Keith of Beavercreek, Ohio. Nieces and nephews: Brandon Kyle (Melanie), Grant Calhoun, Claire Calhoun, Drew Percival, Kelli Neff (Kyle), and Mark Burger (Scarlet) and two great-nieces. She is also survived by her beloved dog, Bonnie. A special thanks to Vickie Akers for her love and friendship.

Services to celebrate Carol's life will be held on Saturday, March 8, at 11:00 am at the Stone Funeral Home in Upland. A memorial fund has been set up for Boys Town and contributions may be made to boystown.org or 1(800) 217-3700.
