Betty Fae Sanders was born April 10, 1938 in Sandersville, Georgia. She was the youngest of six children born to Sammy and Addie Wilson. Betty moved to Brooklyn, New York with her family then to California and completed her formal education in San Francisco, CA. In the mid 60’s, Betty relocated to Los Angeles, CA with her sisters and began working as a seamstress at Campus Quilting.
In 1969, Betty married Jacob L. Sanders and was lovingly devoted for 36 years until Jacob’s passing in 2005. Betty shared Jake’s love of Christ and motorcycles as both were members of the Christian Motorcycle Association and traveled cross-country yearly on their Honda Goldwing. Betty and Jake are now reunited in eternal love.
In 1980, Betty began her professional career with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services as an administrator. She retired from Los Angeles County in 2011, receiving accolades for her successful 31-year tenure.
Betty was a faithful woman who loved The Lord, her family and her community. She was an activist, influencer and philanthropist. She also loved to entertain and greeted you with a warm smile and a song. Betty was a true entertainer. She was the original Queen Bee!
Betty accepted Christ in her youth. She was a member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles, CA for over 10 years. In 1977, she became a member of Pomona First Church of the Nazarene. Betty found her church home at Upland First Church of the Nazarene and was a devoted member for over 18 years. She faithfully served The Lord and shared scripture and song to all she encountered.
On Friday, April 29, 2022, GOD called Betty to heavenly rest. Preceding her in life are: Jacob L. Sanders (husband), Jack R.
