Stanley Joseph Martinez, devoted son, brother, uncle, godfather, and friend passed away November 28, 2024 at the age of 52 after a long, hard-fought battle with several medical conditions. Born in Colorado, Stan spent some time living and working in the Denver area, but most of his years were spent in Texas, primarily in the San Antonio area.
Stan was big and tall from a young age and possessed an even larger personality. Few could match his sense of humor and wit. Always quick with a story or joke, he left a memorable impression wherever he went. His favorite pastime involved sports, especially football. He played offensive and defensive tackle in high school and college, and the family joke was that Stan, with his enormous stature, “WAS THE LINE” on the field. Outside of sports, Stan used his strength, intelligence, and work ethic to learn and master many skills throughout his life. There was nothing he was not capable of learning and performing well, and he enjoyed teaching others what he knew. Making countless lifelong friends along the way, Stan’s presence was always noticed and remembered.
Many of his friends became like family to him, and nothing was more important to him than family. Stan is survived by his parents Joseph (Linda) Martinez and Christine (Pete) Arreola, his sister Sandra (Jeff) Robertson and brother David (Heather) Martinez as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins, but his most important and cherished role was “Tio” to his nieces and nephews Delaney and Chase Robertson and Jacob and Sarah Martinez. He was and will always be their biggest cheerleader, supporter, and guardian.
To honor Stan’s memory, a Celebration of Life is scheduled for 11:00am on January 3, 2025 at Colonial Funeral Home in Universal City, TX. A Reception will follow from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at Old Main Ice House in Cibolo, Texas. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to a foundation of your choice.
