Sandra Jean Hines

Sandra Jean Hines, born 25 October 1938, Oneida Tennessee to Balford York and Ella Daugherty. Married to Lew Vernon Hines, 4 June 1955 beginning their life together traveling the world in service with the US Army and raising a family of five: Steven Scott, Nicky Vernon, Lesia Kyle, Eric Brian and Nicky Vernon Jr. (aka Nicky-J). Moving from Army post to Army post following Vernon as he quickly moved up the enlisted ranks was a challenge but one well within Sandy’s capable hands as a Mother and keeper of the Hines household. While we certainly had our lean times, we were always rich in family and love.

Vernon, her life’s partner passed on 18 May 2014 and she has dearly missed him every day since. Sandy is now exactly where she has wished to be since that day and we are so very happy that she is at peace and back in his consummate care.

In thinking about memorializing Sandy’s life, we wanted to share with you something she did which many may not be aware of. Whenever Sandy was out and came across someone who appeared homeless or in need, she would open her heart and purse and give them money. She’d say we never know their circumstances but if a little bit of cash could make a bit of a difference she wanted to do that. She would also remind us that our circumstances could just as easily change tomorrow. Therefore, instead of suggesting some charity to give to on her behalf, the family simply asks that the next time you are out and come across someone who may be in need, open your heart and give and think of Sandy.

Sandra is survived by Scott, wife Lori, sons Michael and Brian; Nick’s son Shawn and daughter Cherie; Lesia, husband Don, daughters Kylee and Ariel; and Nicky-J, wife Noelle and son Eric. We will miss our Mother/Mammaw/Granny/Nanny. God rest her soul.

In lieu of a Memorial Service the family will be holding a Wake to Honor and Celebrate the rich, full life of Sandra Jean Hines Saturday 12, 2017 from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm. We welcome anyone who wishes to come celebrate Sandy’s memory.
