Rodney Lewis Ray 60, proud patriot and US Air Force veteran passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018 surrounded by family in San Antonio, Texas. Rodney was born January 9, 1958 in Atlanta, Georgia, son of late Vollie M. Ray.
Rodney attended John Adams High school where he was Captain of the Wrestling team during his senior year, a member of the Honor’s Society, the Scholarly Class President, and was consistently on the Merit Roll. After graduating, Rodney joined the United States Air Force earning honors as a Master Sergeant and retired after many years of service. Rodney continued his college education and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology. He was last employed at Inserso Corp in San Antonio, Texas.
He and his family attended Brook’s Chapel Church. One of his favorite farewell sayings was “May God bless and keep you.”
Rodney was a fitness enthusiast and loved running. He participated in many marathons, including the Rock & Roll Marathon. He was also an active member at the CG Crossfit camp, and rarely missed a yoga session at work with the BYP’s (Beautiful Yoga Person’s group).
Always a sports fan, he cheered on the Dallas Cowboys, the San Antonio Spurs, and hometown teams’ Cleveland Cavaliers and Browns.
As a sign of love to family, friends, and neighbors Rodney participated and hosted an annual Christmas Caroling celebration that included a gift exchange, and holiday grab bags for children. He filled his life with love, laughter, and quality moments spent with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Nenita, loving father of one son Rason Ray, two daughters, Dannielle Willis and Jessica Ray. Proud grandfather of Illyanna and Josiah Joseph. Sister, Scottie Jean Ray, and many other relatives and friends.
