Murphy L Pate, 81 of San Antonio, Texas, passed away at his home on April 10, 2018 with his wife Vicki of 46 years and other loved ones nearby. Murphy was born in Flo, Texas on August 7, 1936 to Jim Pate and Gracie Pate. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Anniece Pate Caldwell and Sybil Bates, and brothers James Pate, Bill Pate and Gene Pate.
Murphy's childhood years were spent in Mexia,Texas where he graduated from Mexia High School in 1956. He was on the football, basketball and track teams and was proud to be a Mexia Blackcat. His dearest friends were from his school days, and he remained close to them over the years. He attended many of the Mexia High School reunions, including his 60th reunion in 2016. He enjoyed getting together with his friends and discussing the 'good old days'. His fondest memories were those spent as a boy scout and a Mexia Blackcat.
Murphy and Vicki moved to Corpus Christi in 1979 where they lived for 35 years. Murphy worked as a Project Superintendent in various refineries until his retirement from Repcon in 2007.
After traveling for a few years after retirement, Murphy and Vicki moved to San Antonio to be near their precious grandchildren, and so Samantha and Paulina could be closer to their PawPaw and Grandma.
Murphy is survived by his wife Vicki, son Tim Pate (Dana) of Teague, and daughter Kristi Beach (Kevin) of San Antonio, grandchildren Marc Pate (Megan) of Hewitt, Rachel Tennen (Sterling) of Ashland,Oregon, Samantha and Paulina Beach of San Antonio, great grandsons Maverick and Murphy Pate of Hewitt and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Colonial Funeral Home on Monday, April 16 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow the memorial service.
