Mary graduated from Kaiserslautern High School, Germany, in 1971. She worked for the commissary in Izmir, Turkey, in the 1980s, and retired from Civil Service, after years of working for billeting on Randolph AFB. She lived life to the fullest by travelling to and living in numerous countries, visiting Las Vegas as many times as possible, and dancing the night away at her favorite dance clubs. Mary was an amazing cook as she could prepare meals made from scratch, from numerous cultures, specifically excelling in German cuisine. Mary was an avid dog-lover and bred Lhasa Apsos in Turkey.
Mary Thornton is survived by her brother, Charles H. Bohling Jr.; children, Marc A. Thornton and Shauna Scribner; grandchildren, Braelyn Thornton and Alexandria Thornton. She leaves behind her niece, Megan Weber, nephew, Eric Bohling, and numerous cousins in the United States and Germany.
