Maria Luisa Otila Garcia was born the daughter of Maria and Jesus Nishiyama, on February 06th, 1937 in Nuevo Laredo. At age 19, she fell in love with her now beloved husband and soul mate of 63 years Jose Garcia and gave birth to a legacy of men: Juan (wife Jeanne) , Miguel (wife Allison), Jorge (wife Erin) and Jose (wife April). Tila's legacy is carried on through her grandchildren: Angela Whitaker (husband Brandon), Jacob, Lauren, Amanda and Kiera Garcia; great grandchildren: Brayden, Braxton and Benjamin Whitaker.
Tila found so much joy in life creating. Her love for gardening, her joy for cooking and the table clothes she embroidered were just a few of her passions. Those of us who had the privledge to sit at her table will always remember her presence. She was the matriarch of this beautiful family that she and Jose created together. When she laughed it lit up a room that everyone wanted to be in. Her memory will live on through us all and our lives are full of enrichment from her grace.
Tila is survived by her sister Leticia Hinojosa and brother Hugo Nishiyama.
