Kevin Michael “Mike” Tierney, age 80, of Universal City, Texas passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2024. He was born January 29, 1943 to Michael Joseph Tierney and Alice Brogan Tierney in Bronx, New York.
Mike was stationed at Fort Sam Houston as a helicopter mechanic and honorably discharged from there. He continued a long career in sales for companies including Westinghouse, Dr. Pepper Company, Lone Star Brewery and finally Promised Land Dairy as a manager. Right around retirement, he decided to go back and work as a beloved bus driver for the Judson District and Comal County. His greatest passion was fishing down in Port Aransas, Texas. He also enjoyed golfing at the surrounding courses here in San Antonio. He loved all of his pets dearly and in the later years spent his time with his fur babies, Harry and Yoda. He loved Facebooking and keeping the family ties together and updated.
Kevin “Mike” was a family man and cherished his entire family with all his heart. He lived his life on his terms and stood tall for what he believed in. He was loved dearly by his wife and family and adored by many. He is gone but will never be forgotten. Born and raised in the Bronx of New York but became a true Texan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Felicia Valdez Tierney; sons, Michael Peter Tierney and his wife, Michele Schad Tierney, Patrick Joseph Tierney; daughter, Lisa Alice Throneberry; five grandchildren, Ryan James Throneberry, Danielle Elise Throneberry, Hunter Ethan Tierney, McKalyn Charlize Tierney, Maddox Cole Tierney.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made by donation to American Heart Association and COPD Foundation, as well as ASPCA.
The family would like to give special thanks to their extended family and friends for their support, thoughts and prayers.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 11:00am-3:00pm Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Rd., Universal City, Texas 78148
