Born on December 11th, 1953, at Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany to LTC Marvin Dale (USAF Retired) and Rosemarie Hale Parkhurst, Katy was a beacon of light and love to everyone who knew her.
Throughout her life, Katy dedicated herself to nurturing and guiding young minds as the School Age Services Director at Fort Sam Houston. Her commitment to the well-being of children touched countless lives and left an indelible mark on the community. Katy had a passion for sewing and embroidering, among many other craft-based hobbies.
Nothing brought her more joy than creating handmade gifts for her beloved friends and family. Each stitch was a labor of love, and her creations are cherished mementos that continue to warm our hearts.
In the final six months of her life, Katy was lovingly cared for by her dear friend and longtime coworker, Jeanne Warren. Jeanne's devoted care and companionship brought comfort and peace to Katy, and our family is eternally grateful for the kindness and support she provided during this time.
Katy is preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Rosemarie Parkhurst; her brother, 1LT Michael Parkhurst (USAF); and her sister, Nora Hicks. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her devoted husband of 51 years, SFC Tilmon Hatley Jr. (USA Retired); her son, CW4 William Hatley (USA), and daughter-in-law, Jamie Hatley; her daughter, Sarah VanDyke, and son-in-law, LCDR Eric VanDyke (USN Retired); her sisters, Margaret "Peggy" Parkhurst, Maureen Devenger, and Ellen Osborne and her husband, LTC Ron Osborne (USAF Retired). She was the proud grandmother of Alyssa Samson and her husband Lance Samson, Kyleigh VanDyke, and Lacey Hatley, who brought immense joy to her life.
Serving as urn bearers are Katy's cherished granddaughters: Alyssa, Kyleigh, and Lacey.
