Johnnie, Jr. was the eldest of seven and born to Mr. Johnnie Wesley Harris, Sr. and Mrs. Jerlian Jennetta Oliver-Harris on November 2, 1954 in Bay City, Texas. He grew up in San Antonio, Texas graduating from Breckenridge High School, where he was on the basketball team and a trumpet player in the band.
After graduation, Johnnie, Jr enlisted in the military and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving both in the United States and Internationally.
In retirement, he was highly devoted to his family and friends and enjoyed caring for and visiting his mother weekly. He found himself enjoying his time with family, playing chess in the park with friends, and having more time to be the avid sports fan he was throughout his life. Johnnie, Jr was a caring and empathetic person who loved God and watched out for those around him.
Two siblings preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his passing: his parents,
siblings Patricia Harris Baker, Precillia Harris, Ronnie Harris (Debra Harris), Donnie Harris (Alma Cochran-Harris), and Vaslesa Turner (Donnell Turner); nieces M’Lissa Baker, Demetria (Dee Dee) Harris, and Dynel Turner; nephews Richard Sampson, Duran Sampson, Donnie Harris, Jr, and Dylon Turner, great nieces and nephews, extended family, and a host of friends.
While we will forever miss Johnnie, Jr on this earth, we have all gained an ancestor and guardian angel.
