January 3, 1942 - January 18, 2015
Herminia Marin "Minnie" Castilla, 73, entered into eternal rest peacefully on January 18, 2015. Minnie Castilla was one of eleven children, born to Jeronimo Marin and Julia San Miguel Marin in Kingsville, Texas on January 3, 1942.
It was at a local dance hall where Minnie met the love of her life, her husband, Ralph P. Castilla. A short time later, they married in Seguin, Texas on June 30, 1960 and were by each other's side for 38 wonderful years. Together they had four boys moving to Universal City, TX in 1969 to maintain a long career in civil service at Randolph Air Force Base.
Minnie and Ralph also operated Ralph's Mini Mart restaurant and convenience store just outside of Randolph AFB for many years. Later they ran a successful real estate firm in San Antonio, TX. Minnie was a long-time resident of Universal City for more than 46 years.
Minnie was a devoted wife and mother who loved unconditionally and had an eternal love and commitment to her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a genuine representation of love and taught us all the true meaning of family. Her family has a strong bond because of her, and no one ever left her house hungry, without getting a hug, or without hearing her say, "I love you". She not only touched the hearts of her family and friends, but everyone she came in contact with. Her four boys are shining examples of the great job that she and her husband did in raising them, and will always be a constant reminder of her love and influence on them.
God gives us many gifts in life; but the special gift is in a blessed union to the one true love of our lives. That is what she and Ralph had. Lucky is the woman who finds that special man. The one true love from which all love springs. The joy of children that we call our own. Minnie was so grateful for that one man she found that she chose to be her husband.
Although our hearts are saddened by our loss here on earth, we should take comfort in knowing that she is reunited with her husband in heaven.
Minnie is survived by her children Paul Castilla of San Antonio, TX, Ralph R. Castilla of Greenville, SC, Richard O. Castilla of Austin, TX and Gilbert R. Castilla and wife, Shay of Spring Branch, TX; grandchildren Christina and husband, Jason Jackson, Richard Castilla and his wife Veronica, Joseph Castilla, Raymond Castilla, Catherine Castilla, Suvanna Castilla, Elijah Castilla, Gabriella Castilla, Zacheriah Castilla, and Sophia Marin Castilla.
